8/13: The days keep rolling on and the progress keeps coming. Just a few days ago I passed by a mirror in my house and had to stop and look at the hairline that had once been missing. It was then that I could fully appreciate the things Dr Barusco had told me. I had wondered why they didn’t make the hairline lower on my head during the surgery, but as the hair continues to grow, I can now see how natural it looks the way they did it. It doesn’t look like a “hair system” or a weave or whatever. It simply looks as though I had shaved my head and it is now growing back. I haven’t had that appearance since college. I am not sure just how long I will let my hair grow or whether I’ll keep it cut short, medium or long, but I DO know that I once again HAVE that option. It really is a turning back of the clock… and I know I’ll NEVER lose this hair again. It’s quite ingenious they way they do this surgery. If you have male pattern baldness, it is because the hair on the TOP of your head might be genetically programmed to fall out. But the hair on the back and sides is NOT. That is why they take the genetically “permanent” hair and move it to the top. This way the follicles are fooled into growing as they normally would, but in a different spot on your head. This is why it is your OWN hair, growing as it normally would. It is pretty cool to see this process getting better and better each day. Another cool thing is that I can continue to wear hats like I always do. Hats, bandanas, caps.. NONE of these things make you hair fall out and so I am not jeopardizing the process by wearing them. I have already had a haircut (shhh.. don’t tell the guys at MHR.. I think they wanted me to have my first cut there). I’ll see them again in September for a follow-up and I suspect they’ll be as pleased as I am with the results.

  • 7/10: It’s really cool how this has been working so far. I have noticed that the growth is starting in. It’s a gradual thing. It’s not like one day you’re Uncle Fester... next day you’re Cousin It. But that is good. It means this is a natural and normal hair growth process. This is what is so important in this kind of venture. Although I am somewhat impatient and would not necessarily MIND if I had “instant hair”, I realize that the gradual growth makes it seem more like I had previously cut my hair really short and now it’s growing out. What I DON’T want is to walk in one day and look like someone stapled a chinchilla to my head….and that is why this gradual growth process is the way to go. A co-worker came up to me and asked me what the procedure was like. I told him, honestly, that it really is pretty simple. He had thought about hair restoration a long time ago but was unsure of what the results would be like. Now he is seriously thinking about it again. I am completely happy with the results so far… and I am really looking forward to the Christmas pictures this year! As a matter of fact, I should have some pretty cool growth in place by the time our next Downtown Concert comes around in September.
  • 6/23: "Wow! We’re coming up on a MONTH already and I can’t believe how well this is going. I don’t know which is cooler.. the excitement my friends and co-workers are feeling as they check out the growth or the way I feel when I look in the mirror and can actually SEE THE HAIR GROWING! The healing process after the surgery has gone REALLY well…I am sure the laser treatments made a big difference there. It is so cool to see the hair growing like this. I know I have to give nature time to do her thing, but at this rate, I figure I should be in excellent shape LONG before Christmas arrives!"

  • 6/18: "It’s hard to believe! It’s only been a week since my stitches came out, and about two weeks since the actual surgery and ALREADY people are coming up to me and noticing the results! I mean, I actually have hair growing! It really IS pretty cool! Quite a few people were asking me about the surgery and my results at our recent concert and they were also surprised at what they saw! I can’t wait until our next show in September.. by then it should be fully grown out."
