"Slumdog" Sweeps To Golden Globe Victory
Low-budget movies blew by their major studio rivals at the Golden Globe Awards on Sunday as romance "Slumdog Millionaire" won a leading four honors, including best drama to give it a push in the race for Oscars.
"John Adams," "30 Rock" big winners at Golden Globes
HBO's mini-series about the second U.S. president, "John Adams," swept the Golden Globe television awards on Sunday, picking up four honors on a night that rewarded serious and political shows over lighter fare. Only "30 Rock" -- the NBC comedy starring, written by and produced by Tina Fey -- broke the mold. It won three Golden Globes -- best TV comedy and best comedy actress and actor for Fey and co-star Alec Baldwin.
Hollywood's biggest and most beautiful stars donned their finest to strut down the red carpet at the Golden Globes on Sunday with strapless gowns, chandelier earrings, bold colors and black the top choices. Fashion was sophisticated and pretty, style experts agreed, saying there was a dearth of cringe-worthy moments.
The economy might be in the toilet, but it's heartening to know that at least the Golden Globe Awards are back in top form. Following last year's writers strike-fueled press conference, the 66th annual Globes delivered with heart, soul and even a little political incorrectitude, proving to be the rare kudofest that left viewers feeling almost satisfied.
