Here’s A Perfect Example Of Why You Can’t Just Read The Headlines, You Need To Read The Full Story

I get lots of emails of local news stories and other crazy headlines in my inbox every day. Its part of being in the media. And over many years I’ve learned that headlines are often misleading, and never tell the full story. But this is one example of how important it is to at least read the first paragraph of a story to know what really happened. Here’s the headline from the web that I read:

“Brevard sheriff’s deputy held naked man at gunpoint for hours during armed robbery, report shows”

Now at first glance I thought there was an armed robbery, the suspect was, for some reason, naked, and a sheriff’s deputy had responded to the robbery call and had the suspect held at gunpoint. What caught my eye was that the naked man was held at gunpoint for four hours, which seems excessive to wait for backup or to arrest the perp.

What I discovered when I clicked through to read the full story was that the sheriff’s deputy was holding a naked man at gunpoint, while he, the deputy, robbed and attempted to extort the man.

30 year old Amony Robillard of St. Cloud, a CURRENT (although termination proceedings are under way) Brevard County Sheriff’s Office corrections deputy, was arrested after HE “held a naked man at gunpoint, filmed him for hours, forced him to sign a $30,000 contract, and threatened to send incriminating video to his family and church.”

BUT WAIT, THERE’S MORE!!!!

The victim is a friend of Robillard’s for about a year now. He had convinced Robillard to invest in some cryptocurrency that failed and Robillard was pissed he lost a ton of money. So in order to get his money back, he convinced his investing partner that he knew a 19 year old woman who would have sex with him, and to meet her at an Airbnb. When the victim got there, he took a shower, and as he got out of the shower Robillard stepped out from behind a curtain, pointed 2 guns at the man, filmed him naked for about 3 hours, ordered the victim to sign a contract that stated he would pay Robillard $30,000, and Robillard even had A NOTARY COME TO THE ROOM TO VERIFY THE TRANSACTION!!!! Robillard also, in a final total dick move, called the man’s wife to also come to the room I guess just to put the final nail in the victim’s coffin of his now ruined life.

Oh, and Robillard’s initial investment was only $2,000. Yep, for losing him $2,000 in a bad investment Robillard will spend probably a very long time in prison, and the victim is praying his identity is never revealed, I’m sure.
