If You Missed Bon Jovi In Concert, You Didn’t Miss Much

Before you get all huffy about your favorite band, you need to know a few things:

1. I am also a Bon Jovi fan.

2. I’m not discounting your good time.

3. I’m not the only one saying he sounds horrible, by far!

I’ve been wanting to see Bon Jovi live since the 80′s, but never had the chance until the other night. And to say I was disappointed is putting it mildly. Frankly, only the fact that I didn’t pay for my tickets is keeping me from asking for a refund. Yes, it was THAT bad. Now I’m only talking about Jon himself. The rest of the band was great. The songs, the very few I even recognized, sounded well played, and the backup singing was on point.

But Jon didn’t. And from what I’ve Googled he’s been struggling this entire tour, if not for a few years now. Here are 4 reviews from the tour so far:

Concert review: It’s true — Bon Jovi’s voice is nowhere near perfect. Does it matter?

Here’s one from 2021 showing its not just a few shows on this tour:

Now, again, if you loved the show then I’m super happy for you. I want people to have a good time. I want people to love seeing one of their favorite bands live. But I also expect that band to do a good job. I mean if you were a surgeon who used to be the best in the business, but now you leave medical equipment like sponges inside a patient every time, or you remove the wrong organ or you just can’t do the job anymore, would anyone pay you money to keep doing a bad job? Its ok to retire, Jon. Or maybe you could look into a really good singer to back you up on stage. I hear Richie Sambora is free right now.

So, just for a comparison, here’s Jon back in the 80′s. He’s not perfect, but he’s hitting most of the notes.

And here he is on this tour, from Raleigh, NC on April 9th.

Would you pay to hear that?
