Mick Mars Is Suing Motley Crue And I Think The REAL Dirt Is About To Come Out

Looks like the real dirt is about to be spilled about Motley Crue. We were all a little sad to hear about Mick Mars retiring from touring due to his ongoing medical issues, however Mick is now claiming he only retired from touring with the band, but they turned around and subsequently fired him shortly thereafter. In a lawsuit obtained by Rolling Stone, Mars whose real name is Robert Alan Deal, is suing the band claiming they ousted him from the group and cut him out of profits.

When Mick announced he was retiring from touring he stated, at least to some people, that he was only retiring from extensive touring with the band but would still play festivals, residencies, and other shows that did not involve the hardcore touring that something like the Stadium Tour requires. Now he claims the other band members held a meeting and ‘decided to “fire” Mars via a shareholders’ meeting as an officer of Crüe’s corporation and six other related businesses.’

Further down in the suit the rumored allegations of band members using backing tracks and not actually playing start to come to light. At one point Mars claims Nikki Sixx had been ‘gaslighting’ Mick about his playing being subpar, all the while Sixx himself didn’t play a single live note on his bass throughout the entire tour, using backing tracks exclusively. Part of the suit reads that Sixx would tell Mars that Mick “had some sort of cognitive dysfunction, and that his guitar playing was subpar, claiming that Mars forgot chords, and sometimes started playing the wrong songs...Astonishingly, Sixx made these claims about Mars’ playing while he (Sixx) did not play a single note on bass during the entire U.S. tour,” the lawsuit states. “Ironically, 100% of Sixx’s bass parts were nothing but recordings. Sixx was seen fist pumping in the air with his strumming hand, while the bass part was playing.”

Other portions of the suit deal with the business of the band, since Mick was a %25 stakeholder in the corporations the band held for their touring, recording, publishing, merchandising, and other Crue related business ventures.

Motley Crue, along with many other bands, have always used backing tracks in some fashion whether it be playing orchestral instruments they don’t want on stage, or sound they created in a studio that aren’t easy to replicate live. However, Mick is claiming the band was using backing tracks for way more than that, and much of their live show had devolved into mostly miming.

Either way I have a feeling a LOT of behind the scenes stuff will be made public at some point.
