NEW YORK — The 2021 MTV Video Music Awards returned to New York City on Sunday, with Artist of the Year nominee Doja Cat assuming hosting duties, and Olivia Rodrigo and BTS winning big.
Justin Bieber led the nominations with seven, followed closely by Megan Thee Stallion with six. Both vied for Artist of the Year honors against Doja Cat, Ariana Grande, first-time nominee Olivia Rodrigo and Taylor Swift.
Rodrigo, BTS and Lil Nas X each took high honors in multiple categories.
