Republican Reps. Marjorie Taylor Greene, Georgia, and Lauren Boebert, Colorado, heckled President Joe Biden Tuesday during the State of the Union address.
Greene was heard talking throughout the part of Biden’s speech about COVID-19 policy, then yelled out a remark about women’s sports when Biden mentioned new laws targeting transgender Americans.
Boebert joined Greene in trying to start a “build the wall” chant as Biden referred to the country’s southern border and plans to reform portions of U.S. immigration law.
Biden did not acknowledge either woman’s remarks.
Greene continued to make faces and speak out throughout the speech, but joined in a standing ovation over Biden’s support of more funding for police departments.
“That’s right!” she yelled.
As Biden was talking about open burn pits at military installations and how they may be causing cancers “that would put them (service members) in a flag-draped coffin,” Boebert shouted, “You put them in! 13 of them,” referring to the 13 U.S. service members who died in an attack in Afghanistan during the U.S. withdrawal last year.
Her remark came as Biden mentioned his son, Beau Biden, who served in Iraq and died of brain cancer in 2015.
Boebert, who was wearing a jacket with the words “drill baby, drill” on it, was booed by the members of the chamber.
